This TV series ( THE FAMILY ) was transmitted long before mobile phones, game consoles, home computers, and multi channel television. but has the British attitudes and moral fiber really changed for the better or the worst,? i think that is debatable so If your old enough to remember this fly on the wall documentary i would like to know your views.

i remember this documentary. They were from Reading and real working class, salt of the earth people.Margaret Wilkins came over as a fantastic woman as tough as nails and with a heart as big as a barn. She pretty much ruled the roost.I don’t think she had much formal education,as opportunities were limited for people of her generation, but she had so much wisdom.there were no flies on her.Reading wept when she died a couple of years ago. This series should be on dvd.

@dazloveskylie I wish that I could upload it, because the series is fascinating. Unfortunately, if I did upload what I have, I bet Paul Watson and/or the BBC would be coming across the pond for me. I’ll be lucky to not got get sued over the opening titles.

@wedk656 I love the music, too. The opening montage is quite well done, especially for 1974, though I think it would hold up well even today, really.

Fantastic – How I would love to see this series again, I can remember there was a reunion kind of programme and I’m sure that they were on Wogan in the 90′s.. I did read a while back that Margaret had passed away… Oh what memories – surely someone has got this recorded… Thanks so much for posting

I don’t remember this from when it was first shown, but it was repeated in the early 90′s IIRC ……..I like the music btw.

The theme sounds like a knockoff mash up between Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” and some Jethro Tull song.
